Jet: a jewel from the Camino
A few weeks ago, we received an invitation to participate in the presentation event of the project “El azabache y el Camino de Santiago” as well as the website resulting from it.
We could not attend due to scheduling reasons, and today we share this interesting information to invite you to discover it.
It is impressive the amount of information one can get to just by entering https://azabache.incuna.es/ with free time ahead…
Free time is important because you know what time you enter the website but... it has so much interesting information and so many links to videos, interviews, courses, routes... that time flies by clicking on the cursor... and it is Impossible to control what time you leave...
Our workshop is also among the "carriers" of the jet craft in Galicia.
The presentation of this work and this new website took place within the framework of the XXV International Industrial Heritage Conference 2023 “A future for our past”.
With success, rigor and professionalism, in this great work, the jet industry that fed so many people and in which INCUNA has been working for years is revived, giving it the shine and prominence it deserves, in addition to illustrating, with everything type of details and resources, any questions that may arise about jet.
INCUNA (Industry, Culture and Nature) is an association of researchers, scholars, technicians, professionals and amateurs linked to the heritage of industrialization.
The work they do with jet is very extensive and they are, without a doubt, an entity to take into account for any study on that historical and magical organic gem and semi-precious stone.
We take this opportunity to remember that the small pieces of jet in our jewelry all come from Asturias, from the waste dumps to which some relatives of miners from the last exploited mines have permission and to which reference is made in one of the videos of the route of the jet on the Camino de Santiago as it passes through Asturias.
One of the people in our workshop who best knows how to shape each piece of jet so that it fits into the Enova, Girotondo jewelry collections is our colleague Manuel.
If you follow us on social networks, you will have seen several videos of Manuel polishing or carving jet.
Regardless of recommending you go to our own stores to see the jet in our jewelry collections in situ, be sure to visit azabache.incuna.es to immerse yourself in the magical world of this black gem.
